The City of Fair Oaks Ranch is dedicated to protecting our natural resources through a comprehensive approach to mitigating the impacts of stormwater runoff, including working with property owners to maintain drainage easements.
These easements, encompassing drainage, water diversion, and sanitary control systems (such as walls, beds, embankments, spillways, and other engineered devices), play a vital role in protecting our community. While property owners retain the right to use easement areas for purposes that do not interfere with the system's function, it's important to understand the restrictions and responsibilities associated with these areas, including maintaining clear access and appropriate landscaping. The City is committed to minimizing property damage during any necessary work within the easements and restoring affected areas to their previous condition, while the maintenance of turf, grasses, and landscape vegetation within the easement remains the responsibility of the property owner.
MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System)
The City of Fair Oaks Ranch operates a Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4), a network of conveyances (ditches, pipes, etc.) designed to collect and transport stormwater runoff. Our MS4 permit, issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), requires us to implement a comprehensive stormwater management program to minimize pollutants entering our local waterways
