Zoning Board of Adjustment
Role/Mission
The Zoning Board of Adjustment shall hear and decide appeals when error is alleged in any order, requirement, decision or determination made by an administrative official of the City in the enforcement of any zoning related decisions. The Zoning Board of Adjustment may reverse or affirm, in whole or in part, or modify the administrative official’s order, requirement, decision, or determination from which an appeal is taken and make the correct order.
Membership/Qualifications
The Board shall consist of five (5) members and two (2) alternates who shall be appointed by majority vote of the City Council. Members must be at least 18 years of age, a resident citizen, a qualified voter of the city, not be employed by the city nor receive salary or compensation for services to the board.
Terms
Each member of the Board shall be appointed and serve two (2) years staggered terms (Local Government Code Section 211.008b). Staggering of terms will begin in October 2022 with four members (Places 2, 3, 4, & 5) beginning their two year term and ending in September 2024. Places 1, 6, & 7 will complete their terms September 2023.
Meetings
ZBOA Meeting are tentatively scheduled for the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM. Meetings will only be held if/when necessary.
