In order to help ensure the public safety, health and general welfare of the citizens within the corporate city limits of Fair Oaks Ranch, all buildings and certain other construction projects are permitted and inspected by the Building Department.
Building codes are adopted, and from time to time updated and or amended. Currently in effect are the International Building Codes 2024 Edition and its adjunctive codes, as well as the National Electric Code 2023 Edition.
The Building Department ensures compliance with adopted codes and ordinances of the City of Fair Oaks Ranch, processes building permits, performs inspections, and registers contractors.
On November 18th, 2021 the Fair Oaks Ranch City Council passed Ordinance No. 2021-07 limiting the hours of construction within the city. Click here to view Hours of Construction.

It is the responsibility of the homeowner/contractor to verify and obtain necessary deed and covenants permits and approvals from the governing architectural review committee prior to commencing construction.
