Finance Team wins GFOA Award

City of Fair Oaks Ranch Finance Team Wins Budget Award for Fourth Consecutive Year

The City of Fair Oaks Ranch is proud to announce that its finance team has been honored with the prestigious Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the fourth consecutive year! This remarkable achievement showcases the unwavering commitment of the City Council, staff, and the finance team in particular, to uphold the highest standards of governmental budgeting.

The GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is no small accomplishment. As the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting, it requires entities to meet nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, assessing the budget's performance as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communication device. The City of Fair Oaks Ranch's award-winning budget documents achieved the highest rating of "proficient" in all four categories and satisfied the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories.

Having won the GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award every time they have submitted for it over the past 4 years, the Fair Oaks Ranch finance team can now also say they are eligible for the highly prestigious Triple Crown award with their most recent award for the Popular Annual Financial Report. The Triple Crown is a rare distinction bestowed upon finance departments that have received all three of the GFOA's awards, including the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, and the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award.

With over 1,700 participants in the Budget Awards Program, the GFOA's recognition of the City of Fair Oaks Ranch underscores its exemplary financial management practices. The City's budget documents, along with those of other recent award recipients, are available for public view on the GFOA's website on a quarterly basis. By consistently striving for excellence in budgeting, Fair Oaks Ranch serves as a trailblazer for other governmental entities throughout North America, inspiring them to enhance the quality of their own budgeting processes.

The City of Fair Oaks Ranch extends its heartfelt congratulations to its exceptional finance team for this extraordinary accomplishment. This remarkable fourth consecutive win of the GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award showcases their expertise, dedication, and commitment to transparency and accountability.
